Award winning centre

Sunshine Kids came together to engage in a project exploring the history of the building in which we are situated and the local area. We found that the area was rich in local history from grasslands which were known to the Gadigal people as grazing areas for kangaroo, to Fowlers Pottery yards and now Early education and care.

This project researching our local history earnt us the awards “Best Early Childhood Education Week Activity” and “Best Overall Australian Childcare Week Program” in 2017

Environmental Program Excellence

In 2019 Sunshine Kids was awarded ‘Environmental Program Excellence’ by the Australian Childcare Alliance NSW for our Ocean Cleaning Project conducted over the prior 18 months. The project involved the preschool children designing and building their own ocean cleaning machine from recycled materials after discovering a passion for preserving and protecting our oceans and waterways. The project evolved and allowed us to connect with Seabin Project and the Australian National Maritime Museum to continue exploring our passion for ocean sustainability.
